It has been decided that Saturdays BSFC fixture at home to Burgess Hill Town will be dedicated to the memory of John Turner, BSFC Vice Chairman, who sadly passed away last week. John’s family members will be there (wife Anne, children Caroline and Richard and grandchildren Harriet, Hugo and Jake). There will be a minutes applause before kick off at 3pm.
We have also extended the invitation to remember John to past players and staff as well as the wider football community, it is obvious from the numerous messages we have received from Clubs far and wide that John has made a significant impression in the Football Community and we hope that the turnout on Saturday will bear testament to that.
The Club have decided that Saturdays gate takings will be donated to a Charity of the family choice. Kids go free, adults entrance fee will be £11 and the family have decided that they would like the proceeds to go to Grove Cottage.
JT’s family would be overjoyed to see as many people attend this match as possible, and if all BSCFC players could wear their Club shirts/kits it would be even more appreciated. If BSCFC players in kits can get to the ground by 2.15pm, Tim Moylette and Tim Hancock will organise them to form a guard of honour on the pitch and they will form part of the memorial.
We also ask, that as a mark of respect for John, a minutes applause is given at the start of any League/Cup games being played this weekend. Please can you speak to your opposition to let them know the Club’s wishes.
