Message from the Club Chairman September 2018

Dear All
I hope you and your family had a fabulous summer, enjoyed the warm weather and the football World Cup.

It only seems like yesterday we were all celebrating your Son/Daughter’s achievements in 2017/18 at the Club’s presentation days. How time flies as here we are at the beginning of another football season.

Having taken on board some of the comments and responses made in the survey you kindly completed in April, your Committee of hard working volunteers have been extremely active since last season ended .

We have produced a “Know How” document that details the Club, our philosophy, how we operate and hopefully answers some of the questions you may have; this can be found on the Club’s website.

You will appreciate that a huge amount of work is required behind the scenes so that we’re ready for the first games of the new season. We’ve dealt with registering of the Club as a whole, registering our 80+ Teams and their 800 or so Players; whilst the safeguarding of children is a responsibility we ALL must take, it is an FA requirement that our Managers and their Assistants have to be CRC checked and this has been carried out; we also have to arrange and order kit for our 80 teams; training slots for these teams need to be organised and pitches arranged for the forthcoming season. Without undertaking these tasks BSCFC wouldn’t operate – so thanks to all that have assisted here!

In addition to the day to day running of the Club and to improve our current facilities, many of you will have seen, from the outside, the works being carried out at the Clubhouse at Friedberg Avenue. Thanks to Jason Millett (one of the Club’s ex-Managers) we engaged with Mace an international consultancy and construction company; Solum, a partnership between Network Rail and Kier Property and Joseph Gallagher a leading UK based Civil Engineering Company to deliver improvements, as part of their volunteering activities, to our outdated Clubhouse at Friedberg. This has included the installation of a new kitchen with serving hatch (thank you to local Takeley firm Excelsior Kitchens for their kind support here), a new accessible toilet and carrying out general repairs, cleaning and decorating both internally and externally. We are indebted to these firms for their time and efforts in improving this facility, that I’m sure you will really appreciate and value this season.

As a new initiative this year all playing Members should, as part of their membership this season, receive a training top which we hope will be worn with pride and will show BSCFC off to the local community!

Our coaching personnel has been restructured with part of their remit to ensure there is effective communication channels between Player/Manager/Coach and the Club’s Committee.

We have also appointed Roger Hammond to be the “Parent’s Representative”. If you do have any suggestions and/or can offer any assistance to take your Club forward do let either him or me know.

You will see from the Club’s AGM Minutes that was held in June, the efforts we have taken and continue to take to secure some land to be able to build a Community Facility that we can call a “home”. I hope to be able to update you further on the progress we are making with this exciting project in the near future.
